Another Christmas Card

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share another card that I made last night.

For this card, I used a freebie digi stamp from Whimsie Doodles. It can be found on their website here. I colored the image in using Prismacolor pencils. I decided to go with non traditional colors for this card. The teal polka dot background paper was my inspiration starting point. I added some pink textured paper from DCWV Sweet Stack, a doily and some baker's twine. I then used frosted lace stickles on the snowflakes and added three pearl accents at the bottom. I just love how the colors all came together.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Silly Owls Christmas Card

Just a little Christmas card to share.
The cute little image with the owls is a digi stamp I found on Etsy. Shop name is PinkGemDesigns. I colored them in using my Prismacolors and added frosted lace stickles to their little hats. Background papers are from American Crafts Merrymint line. Sentiment is from a $1 stamp I purchased from Michaels last year.

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

No, seriously it really is. The stores are all decked out already, actually they have been for a couple months now. Crazy!
So to get into the spirit of the season I have begun making some decorations for the house.

I found some free subway art printables online. All you have to do is google it and you will get a ton of different ones to choose from.

Here is my finished project,

and here is how I made it. I bought a plain white frame. Sanded it to get the glossy finish off. Then I used some Gesso to prime. After that was dry, I used a silver acrylic paint all around the frame and the sides.
Printed the subway art onto  5x7 photo paper and then matted it to a red piece of cardstock.
For the banner, I hand cut different shapes from coordinating Christmas cardstock. If you can find a template for these, I highly recommend it. Unless of course you enjoy cutting out pieces several times before getting it perfect on both sides. I then attached the pieces to red and white twine and glued it at the top of the frame.
The rossette, I hand cut from the same Christmas cardstock and attached a button with red twine to the piece.

I'm pretty happy with how this turned out and it was less than $5 in materials. Not too bad.

So how about you? What kinds of things are you making to get into the spirit?

I Love Fall

This is my favorite time of year. The leaves have all changed colors and the air is so crisp. Well except for this week, this week we are having an Indian Summer so the weather has been very summer like. It's back to Fall this weekend though, when the temperatures dip back down into the 40's.

I worked on two different cards to help get me into the season. For the first one I used a Whimsie Doodle digital image called Lizzie's Pumpkins which can be found here. I used Prismacolor pencils to color her in and various scrapbook papers and embellishments.

The second card I once again used a Whimsie Doodle stamp called Turkey Split and colored him in with Prismacolors. I just love him!

Next up on my project to do list...Christmas cards. =) Thanks for stopping by!

Halloween Card and Shadowboxes

Wow! Where does the time go? Hard to believe it is already October. I've been working on some Halloween projects and thought I would share them. First up is a Halloween card. The digital image is from Whimsie Doodles and can be found here along with lots of other adorable stamps. I colored her in using Prismacolor colored pencils and just love how her hair turned out.

Next up, I made a Halloween shadowbox for my youngest son's teacher. The shadowboxes were originally from Dollar Tree but I found mine at a Goodwill for .49 cents. I liked the one I made for her so much that I decided to make one for myself as well. The top picture is for the teacher and the bottom one is mine.

Thanks for stopping by! I'm going to attempt to do a better job posting on here. :D

Awesome Fuji Instax Camera Giveaway

I have been drooling over the Fuji Instax Camera for a couple of months now. It's at the top of my wish list to give to my hubby at Christmas time. So when I saw the chance to win one, I instantly jumped on it. Kellie over at Give A Girl A Blog, who is also a fellow smasher, is having a giveaway of this very camera. Be sure to check out her blog while you are there. She is such an inspiration with all her craftiness.

Smashing My Life

Wow, can't believe I've let so much time go by on my little blog. I have been so busy with lots of projects and working on Etsy shop orders. Not to mention, my son has started travel ball so we have been down at the fields a lot! My newest crafting obsession is the Smash book. I currently have 6 of the books and they come in a variety of styles and colors. I have a pink one that is all about me. A black one that is about family events, a large purple one that is all things Titanic, a blue one that is all about our summer travels and a teal one that I'm not sure yet what I will do with. LOL. My newest one is the yellow one or International as it is called. I recently joined a Smash group on Facebook and they have a postcard swap where everyone sends each other a post card from their state or country. Very cool! So this book will be used for all the ones I receive. In this group they also have page challenges. You are given so much time and you have to create a page using various embellishments that are listed. I participated in the first challenge, which you had to use one or all of the following, twine, lace or ribbon. Here is how my page turned out. I really like it!
Here are more images of some of the pages I've made.
